Current FEN Initiatives
The Free Enterprise Nation researches, compiles, verifies and publishes information related to the engine that drives America’s economy – the people and companies of the private sector. Our early research centered on the pay, benefits and pension disparities between taxpayer-supported public sector workers and the employees of the private sector. These inequities were soon joined by other discoveries related to public policy and legislation that painted a decidedly negative outlook for free enterprise. Our mission for 2010 is to take a leadership role in defining and attacking these threats and to introduce initiatives to address them. The Free Enterprise Nation’s top initiatives for America in 2010:
- It is unconstitutional. We’re supporting all legal challenges based on Constitutionality of the act.
- It is unaffordable. The estimated trillion dollar price tag is, itself, understated. We advocate repeal, by voting against those who supported it, and for those who will pledge to repeal it.
- Oppose government requirements that force businesses to unionize.
- Seek legislation that forbids political contributions by public sector Unions.
- Taxpayers must be allowed to see what pay and benefits they are providing to public sector workers.
- All liabilities incurred by public sector entities must be calculated in accordance with the same rules that apply to the private sector, and disclosed to taxpayers.
- It is time for a "Taxpayer Disclosure Act"!
In the next 15 years, an estimated 77 million baby boomers will become eligible for Social Security. Unless immediate changes are made, Social Security will become essentially bankrupt, while most public sector workers retire with a taxpayer-guaranteed pension plan. In 2010, FEN will seek congressional sponsorship for a bill to guarantee the solvency of Social Security.
